I just read the story on this man. While I am not a participant in social media, I enjoy a kindred spirit with any one that is involved in the sport, knowing that on any level it’s a tough, rugged, and often unfair game. I applaud Jason and wish him nothing but the best. I have worked with and am a personal friend of Tom Durkin, who I admire both personally and professionally. I would encourage Mr. Beem to talk to Tom, if he hasn’t already. Best of luck.
Jason, you are a breath of fresh air in this upside down and backwards world we live in today. I started listening to you nightly 2 years ago. I look forward to your podcast every night at 8pm. While I found the podcast through my love of race horses, I mostly enjoy your life stories and everyday life discussions. Last year I started an annual mini vacay to Tampa to coincide with the Tampa Bay Derby. I stayed close enough that I could walk to the track and flea market and my cab ride was only 10 minutes to play golf at Westchase. I recommend you check out Westchase! I fell in love with the neighborhood and look forward to getting out of dodge (NYC) and getting back there in a few months. I will make a point to say hello or waive to you in the booth! Best of luck in all you do!
Newwwman,
Thanks so much for the wonderful message. I’m so glad you said hello and that you’ve enjoyed the podcast. I look forward to hopefully shaking your hand at Tampa this winter!
Jason
It was nice to visit TPD in March as Aqueduct was still not letting anyone in. TPD is no Aqueduct but more like Saratoga (not exactly). Everything was perfect and I am finalizing where I am staying 3/9 – 3/13 – Oldsmar Courtyard again (walk everywhere for everything ) or maybe AirBnB? Definitely making it an annual thing ( I fly ). Looking forward to one of the best cuban sandwiches at Cuban Breezes! Have a safe trip and I definitely will find my way up to the booth.
Thursday player day podcasts are great. Question about wagering possibilities in your scenario around using the Oaklawn horse in the 3rd you liked: How much do better players factor in the different takeout rates for wagers? With Oaklawn @21% for all exotics it didn’t matter, but if the track is pk3,pk4=23% and pk 5=15%, then does that change the thinking process? I am coming to horses from poker so viewing takeout as rake is always on my mind.
Good luck in your weight loss I read your book a couple years ago and loved it. You do a great job announcing the races wherever you work. Be happy and live long.
I started listening to your podcast and wanted to reach out. Long-time Tampa Bay resident here and so glad you have taking over race calling at TBD! You did great in your first full season here.
I will be in Louisville with a group for my birthday. Would love if you could join us in the clubhouse! Always great to have fellow horse players together!!
Hi mark, sorry just seeing this. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the nice words. I hope to see you at Tampa next season. Did i miss the birthday here in Louisville? Lol
